Chemical Engineering Design这本书，可能大家比较熟悉的是Sinnott著的Chemical Engineering, Volume 6, Chemical Engineering Design,Fourth edition，这本书也被翻译成中文版《化工设计》（第4版），Sinnott也说他退休了，不会出新版本了。后来Towler在Sinnott第4版的基础上，把欧洲的设计法规标准改成美国的设计法规标准，2007年编成适合美国学生的教材Chemical Engineering Design: Principles, Practice and Economics of Plant and Process Design。同时，原来的欧洲法规标准的版本也于2009年出了Chemical Engineering Design,Fifth edition。2012年，Towler再次改编修订，增加了流程模拟等新内容，出了美国版Chemical Engineering Design, Second Edition。
