Important notices for AVEVA PRO/II Simulation 2024
1. Notepad++ installer is no longer shipped with PRO/II installer. Users are recommended to get the installer
from the Notepad++ website and install before proceeding with PRO/II installation.
2. AVEVA Help: AVEVA PRO/II Simulation has adopted a new format of web help for documentation.
The new AVEVA Help uses a consolidated product documentation utility that installs and registers as a selfcontained
service on your computer. This allows you to securely view multiple, dynamic AVEVA web help
installations on your local machine through your web browser.
Important: Correct viewing requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as the default browser.
3. PRO/II Electrolytes MSE (511) license is no longer required to run OLI MSE simulation file.
4. Solid Reacting components in Equilibrium Reactor (Bug # 254673). A 100 percent conversion was not
achieved when there were solid components present and the user selected vapor phase in reactor operation
phase. After fixing the issue there is 100% conversion achieved when there are solid components present.
5. Plug Flow Reactor (Bug # 2540125). The residence time was reported as average value for each profile point.
It is now calculated at each profile point, so the existing results will change.
6. Pressure unit of measure (UOM) is now supported for Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP). The default UOM for RVP
are psi irrespective of the global pressure UOM. The stream property tables is an exception to this and will
use the simulation’s global UOM. In order to select/change the RVP UOM in stream property table for earlier
version PRZs during migration, re-create the SPT by adding same parameters.
7. YEAR unit of measure (UOM) changes (Bug # 2371084)
Issue: Inconsistency in stream total fluid rate between PRO/II input (.INP) file and user interface. New UOMs
created after AVEVA PRO/II Simulation version v2022 were added with Year as UOM and used 365 days as
conversion whereas the other UOMs created prior to PRO/II V2022 used 365.25 days per year conversion.
This issue is now fixed in v2023.1 and v2024 and all the UOMs use 365.25 days as the conversion factor.
However, simulation files created in PRO/II v2022/v2023 and migrated by schema will have slightly different
values in the database for Year UOM, if the simulation file was created in an earlier version. At that time, the
Year was converted to internal units using factor 365 and now, we are converting with 365.25 to get the
original value. This can cause some small discrepancies. No issues for migration by input.
8. OLI Co-existence: Due to bug#2527582 fix, when v2023.2 is installed on top of v2022, the base install of
v2023 modifies the registration of the OLIAdaptorExe for v2022 and it may not work as expected. Repair
v2022 install to correct this.
9. Added support for Ionic Strength changes for OLI66 (Bug # 2254795)
Issue: Molal ionic strength calculated by OLI 66 methods is wrongly reported as molar ionic strength in
stream property table. This is now fixed.
Impact on file migrated from older versions:
• Stream property table (SPT) for streams using OLI66 will show n/a for ionic strength. To resolve this,
delete the existing SPT and recreate new SPT with correct ionic strengths.
• Files with ionic strength as specification may not converge. After migration, update the specification to
the correct molal ionic strength parameter to converge.
10. License related dlls are now added to the PROII2024\Bin folder instead of C:\Program Files\Common
Files\SimSci\Licensing20.
Only latest FNP license including token (11.16), ALS and LaaS licenses are supported in v2024 by default. We
suggest upgrade to FNP 11.16.2 or another security option wherever possible. To use older versions of FNP,
user should manually copy the required dlls to the PROII2024\Bin and SIM4MEPortal43\Bin directories and
edit appropriately the proii.ini and SIM4MEPortal.ini files.
11. Pipe: The Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) values are supported only in inches in GUI side for both Single and
Multiple pipe devices.
12. When extended binary interaction parameter set is mixed with two parameters set in Wilson thermo
method, v2023 results are wrong. This is corrected in v2023.2 and v2024 (Bug 2918251).
13. The following components properties are updated in SIMSCI data bank.
a. Liquid Enthalpy correlation data for 124MBENZ,135MBENZ, m-Xylene
b. TC,PC,ZC,VC for N2O4
c. Vapor pressure and Liquid Thermal Conductivity correlation T-max for Dowtherm G
d. Vapor Pressure Correlation data for Hydrogen Fluoride
e. Heat of formation data for Linoleic Acid, Oleic Acid.
