It is unethical for any senior Engineer to be compensated as mentor by any another fellow grass root engineer. I am engineer and have sons engineers like you who lacks for guidance.
I would suggest for you and if you like to follow the following hints:
1- Seek a support from your boss engineer and if boss is not engineer, seek help from other engineer in your company.
2- Look through the operation and maintenance manuals regarding your process, and such references shall be available at the planning department or engineering department at your employer's premises.
3- Never ever to shame from asking help.
4- I enclose the following links to help you to find any Engineering reference in any branch of engineering and free of charge.
5- Internet is a wealthy resource of information.
6- Focus on the corrosion issue in regards to metals.Focus on engineering specs when you order equipment to your process.Always look in engineering standards like API, ASME, standards
7- When you need a help, try to be specific in your request. senior engineers accumulated years and years of experience and is not easy for them to help you in asking general question.
God be with you son and hopefully these links might provide you with some of your needs if not all of them.
