How could he risk the death penalty to tamper with the imperial edict? Isn't it the same as eating aconite (a highly toxic herb) to satisfy hunger and drinking poison (poisoned wine soaked in poison feathers) to quench thirst? If that's the case, before it enters the intestines and stomach, it's already dead at the throat. How could he possibly do this? Liang Shang read the letter and felt that it made sense, so he showed it to the emperor. Soon after, Song Guang was acquitted.
